Softball Game Preview: Cedar Park Christian Eagles vs. Mt. Baker Mountaineers

The Cedar Park Christian Eagles will take on the Mt. Baker Mountaineers at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday. Cedar Park Christian will aim to continue their five-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.

Mt. Baker's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Saturday: Cedar Park Christian hadn't allowed a single run the last four times they've hit the field. The Eagles never let Sultan get on the board and left with a 20-0 victory on Thursday. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by ten runs or more this season.

Gianna Charlton and Shelby Southard made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Charlton pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Southard struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Charlton has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. At the plate, Charlton went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base, while Southard got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Adelaide Foster was incredible, firing off two home runs, seven RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Isabela Stewart, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base.

Cedar Park Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Mt. Baker suffered their closest defeat since March 20th on Thursday. They fell just short of Lynden Christian by a score of 7-5.

Mt. Baker's loss dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Cedar Park Christian, their win bumped their record up to 10-2.

Cedar Park Christian suffered a grim 12-1 defeat to Mt. Baker in their previous meeting back in May of 2023. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
