Preview: Shafter Generals vs. Mission Oak Hawks
The Shafter Generals will head out on the road to face off against the Mission Oak Hawks at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Wednesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Shafter beat Golden Valley 54-48.
Shafter's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Aidan Cardenas led the charge by scoring 14 points along with six rebounds and four steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Cardenas has scored at least 25% of Shafter's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Shaun Maldonado, who scored 18 points.
Meanwhile, Mission Oak was able to grind out a solid victory over Strathmore on Thursday, taking the game 58-49. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Mission Oak.
Shafter is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. As for Mission Oak, their win bumped their record up to 5-7.
