Baseball Recap: Saint Jo Takes a Loss

Saint Jo fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Perrin-Whitt on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Pirates by a score of 7-6. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Panthers of the 13-3 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

Sam Martin made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Devin Stewart was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

Even though they lost, Saint Jo always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .523. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Perrin-Whitt only posted an OBP of .326.

Saint Jo's defeat was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Perrin-Whitt, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.

While Saint Jo had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
