Baseball Recap: Triumph Charter Has No Trouble Against Valor Academy

Triumph Charter never got on the board in their matchup last Monday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Valor Academy on Thursday. They put the hurt on Valor Academy with a sharp 12-1 win. Considering the Jaguars have won three games by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Edgar Arevalos made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in May of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and three RBI. Triumph Charter is 2-1 when Arevalos posts two or more stolen bases, but 2-4 otherwise.

In other batting news, Gabriel Gonzales and Elijah Garcia did most of the damage at the plate: Gonzales scored three runs and stole seven bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Garcia went 3-for-4 with three runs, three doubles, and three RBI. Gonzales has become a key player for Triumph Charter: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 2-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Simon Trujillo, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-4.

Triumph Charter's record is now 4-5. As for Valor Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Looking ahead, Triumph Charter will face off against Vaughn at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Valor Academy, they will challenge Lakeview Charter at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
