More than 2,000 fans made the trip from the Islands to see if the pride of Hawaii, defending state champion Kahuku could knock off the nation's No. 1 team.

There was a lot of hard hitting and tough yards to go around, but top-ranked Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas, Nev.) continued its surge against another nationally-ranked squad with a 35-7 home victory.

Ohio State-bound Tate Martell threw for four touchdowns and ran for another as the Gaels (4-0) won their 43rd straight game overall and fourth straight this season against a ranked opponent.

After a scoreless first quarter, tight end Brevin Jordan took a middle screen, broke several tackles and powered into the end zone to complete an 18-yard touchdown on the first play of the second quarter giving Gorman a 7-0 lead.

Gorman's offensive line gave Martell all day and he completed a 14-yard TD in the right corner of the end zone to Austin Arnold, making it 14-0 midway through the second.

Kahuku (5-1), which came in with three straight shutouts and having outscored foes 254-22 this season, gave its loud contingent something to cheer about just before halftime.

On fourth down, freshman QB Sol-Jay Maiava faked an inside hand-off and sprinted 45 yards untouched for a touchdown, making it 14-7.

But the Gorman defense, as its done all year, once again flexed its muscle in the second half holding Kahuku scoreless.

Martell scored on a 3-yard keeper late in the third quarter to make it 21-7. Jordan hauled in his second TD pass, a 3-yarder from Martell in the fourth quarter, before Jalen Nailor caught another TD score with 2:21 remaining.

The victory ended an 18-game win streak for Kahuku. Gorman played without two of its top playmakers because of injury, Cal-bound running back Biaggio Ali Walsh (ankle) and receiver Tyjon Lindsey (collarbone).
