Basketball Recap: Springstead Continues Road Dominance on Tuesday

Springstead won the last time they faced Crystal River, and Ryan Sayre did his part to make sure it happened again. The Springstead Eagles put the hurt on the Crystal River Pirates with a sharp 64-43 victory on Tuesday thanks in part to Sayre, who went 7 of 9 from beyond the arc en route to 23 points and five assists. That's the most assists he has posted since back in December of 2024.

The team also got some help courtesy of Alejandro Arenas, who posted four points and ten boards. He has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times he's played.

Crystal River's loss came despite strong showings from Gavin Eddings and Ej Jenkins. Eddings went 5 for 10 on his way to 13 points, while Jenkins went 5 of 9 en route to 10 points and five boards. Another player making a difference was Jake Yost, who scored nine points.

Springstead pushed their record up to 14-8 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.2 points per game. As for Crystal River, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-9.

Springstead didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 49-45 loss against South Sumter on the 29th. As for Crystal River, they will challenge Weeki Wachee at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Crystal River is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.7 points per game this season.
