Basketball Recap: Mattoon Takes a Loss

Mattoon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They lost 55-34 to the Paris Tigers. While losing is never fun, the Greenwave can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 416th, while the Tigers are ranked 73rd).

Mattoon's loss dropped their record down to 6-23. As for Paris, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 20-7.

Looking ahead, Mattoon and Robinson will face off at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday without much rest having both just played. As for Paris, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Brownstown at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Paris' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four contests.
