Basketball Recap: Hoke County Takes a Loss

Hoke County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They were outmatched by the West Charlotte Lions and fell 71-39. While losing is never fun, the Bucks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 429th, while the Lions are ranked 123rd).

West Charlotte found their leader in sophomore Bri'Asia Rowe, who posted 22 points. Chakira Generette was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Hoke County's defeat dropped their record down to 1-9. As for West Charlotte, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-2.

Hoke County wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 57-14 victory against Ascend Leadership on the 26th. As for West Charlotte, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Hopewell at 6:15 p.m. on January 3, 2025. West Charlotte is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.1 points per game this season.
