Football Recap: North Stokes Takes a Loss

North Stokes had lost seven straight at home dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 2-5 to make it eight. They took a blow against the Bishop McGuinness Villains, falling 50-6. The Vikings were not able to make up for their defeat to the Villains from their previous meeting back in August of 2024.

Noah Bennett threw for 150 yards and one touchdown. Jackson Bodenhamer was his top target, picking up 78 receiving yards and one score.

As for Bishop McGuinness, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-1. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by 22 points or more this season.

Bishop McGuinness' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tristan Styers led the charge by throwing for 240 yards and three TDs while picking up 10.9 yards per attempt, and also punching in one score on the ground. Styers is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in each of the last three games he's played. Sam Ball was in the mix as well, providing Bishop McGuinness with two touchdowns.

North Stokes will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on South Davidson at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th. The Wildcats' defense has only allowed 3.5 points per game this season, so the Vikings' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Bishop McGuinness, they have already played their next matchup, a 50-0 win against Chatham Central on the 10th.
