Basketball Recap: Bartlett Yancey Comes Up Short

Bartlett Yancey played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against the Seaforth Hawks, falling 68-37. The loss continues a trend for the Buccaneers in their matchups with the Hawks: they've now lost nine in a row.

Bartlett Yancey lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Tyler Newcomb, who posted 12 points. What's more, he also posted an 80% shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in November of 2024. Jaden Carolina was another key player, putting up five points and 13 boards.

Even though they lost, Bartlett Yancey smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 19 consecutive games.

Seaforth's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Declan Lindquist, who earned 19 points. Another player making a difference was Noah Lewis, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and five steals.

Bartlett Yancey's defeat dropped their record down to 6-14. As for Seaforth, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-11.

Bartlett Yancey didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 73-45 loss against Southeast Alamance on the 17th. As for Seaforth, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 52-34 victory against Cummings on the 17th.
