Basketball Recap: Lamar Consolidated Takes a Loss

Lamar Consolidated lost against Fort Bend Marshall back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Lamar Consolidated Mustangs took a blow against the Fort Bend Marshall Buffalos, falling 79-25. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 900th, while the Buffalos are ranked 15th).

Despite the defeat, Lamar Consolidated saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Edgar Garcia posted 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Renniek James, who scored six points.

Lamar Consolidated has traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season. As for Fort Bend Marshall, the victory was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 26-2.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Fort Bend Kempner the next time they take the court. Fort Bend Marshall will head out to face Fort Bend Kempner at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, while Lamar Consolidated will host them at 7:00 p.m. on January 24th.
