Basketball Recap: West Holt Snags 11th Victory in Last 13 Games

West Holt was handed a 21-point defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 41-38 win over the Grand Island Central Catholic Crusaders.

It was another big night for Zach Hooey, who dropped a double-double with 24 points and 11 rebounds. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 8.1 boards per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Lincoln Konrad, who posted eight points in addition to 11 rebounds and five assists.

Several Crusaders players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Thomas Birch, who shot 42% from the field en route to 14 points along with five boards and four steals. Birch has been hot recently, having posted four or more steals the last three times he's played. Thomas Liban was another key player, putting up 11 points and five rebounds.

West Holt is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.9 points over those games. Grand Island Central Catholic moved to 21-5 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.
