Softball Recap: Gretna Comes Up Short

Gretna lost against Chatham back in May of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Hawks took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cavaliers.

Sophia Brooks was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season.

Gretna's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Chatham, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-5 record this season.

Gretna will be playing in front of their home fans against Dan River at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Hawks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season. As for Chatham, they are taking a road trip to square off against Halifax County at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
