Basketball Recap: Cedaredge Takes a Loss

Cedaredge lost against Roaring Fork back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Cedaredge Bruins were outmatched by the Roaring Fork Rams and fell 67-33. While losing is never fun, the Bruins can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 293rd, while the Rams are ranked 115th).

Rylan Brooks and Josh Scott certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Brooks went 7 for 13 on his way to 19 points, while Scott posted seven points and six boards. Brooks is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games.

Roaring Fork was led to victory by Lucas Carballeira and Kiko Pena. Carballeira went 6 of 14 en route to 18 points and three steals, while Pena almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds. Pena is crushing it when it comes to boards: he's pulled down at least nine every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Sam Brennan, who scored six points and three steals.

Cedaredge has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-8 record this season. As for Roaring Fork, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-3.

Cedaredge will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against North Fork at 7:30 p.m. As for Roaring Fork, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 82-61 win against Olathe on the 18th.
