Soccer Recap: Monroe Takes a Loss

Monroe was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 7-1 to the Delavan-Darien Comets. While losing is never fun, Monroe can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin soccer rankings (they are ranked 161st, while Delavan-Darien are ranked 39th).

Monroe's goal came courtesy of Josue Torres, which was the first he's scored this season.

Monroe's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-5-1. As for Delavan-Darien, they pushed their record up to 11-2-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home.

Monroe has already played their next contest, a 1-0 victory against Whitewater on the 30th. As for Delavan-Darien, they also didn't take long to hit the pitch again: they've already played their next matchup, a 4-2 win against Evansville on the 30th.
