Soccer Recap: Aztec Starts Season with Victory Against Grants

Aztec gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Grants Pirates a 10-0 shutout. That's more bragging rights for Aztec, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Their offense was hitting Grants from everywhere, as six different players booted in a goal. Aubrey Thornton led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by herself.

Aztec wasted no time getting back out on the pitch and has already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Farmington on the 22nd. As for Grants, they have also already played their next game, an 11-0 loss against Los Lunas on the 22nd.
