Baseball Recap: Durant Wins Going Away Against Hugo

Durant never got on the board in their matchup last Monday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Hugo on Tuesday. They blew past the Hugo Buffaloes 10-3. The win continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Buffaloes: they've now won six in a row.

Ryder Jones and Aiden Diviney were a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Jones struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Diviney struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. At the plate, Jones scored a run while going 3-for-4, while Diviney went 1-for-5 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave Diviney a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cole Robbins, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in hits. Lucas McClure also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.

Durant kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are 2-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

The victory got Durant back to even at 3-3. As for Hugo, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season.

Durant will challenge Byng at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Durant is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season. As for Hugo, they will host Kingston at 3:00 p.m. on Monday.
