After a string of four wins, Parkway West's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Webster Groves Statesmen. The Longhorns were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Statesmen earlier this season, when they won 3-1.

Lyla Surtin paced Parkway West's offense, picking up seven kills. Surtin got some help from Elle Lanfersieck and her nine assists. Mackenzie Carevic controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Parkway West's loss dropped their record down to 11-3-1. As for Webster Groves, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-9 record this season.

Parkway West didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-0 defeat against Jackson on the 25th. As for Webster Groves, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 2-0 loss against Kirkwood on the 25th.
