Recap: Charleston Bluejays vs. Goreville Blackcats
The Charleston Bluejays suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Saturday. They were the victim of a tough 81-55 loss at the hands of Goreville. Charleston was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 46-25.
When it comes to explaining why Charleston lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ko'terrion Owens. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten rebounds. Owens has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Deshaun Henderson was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Charleston and nudges their season record down to 10-9. As for Goreville, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-2 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Charleston's road trip will continue as they head out to face St. Mary's at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. St. Mary's has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 1,047 points over their last 13 matches. As for Goreville, they will head out on the road to challenge Woodlawn at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
