Recap: Providence Pioneers vs. Floyd Central Highlanders

The Providence Pioneers waltzed into their match on Thursday with three straight wins but they left with four. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Floyd Central 60-58. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.

Providence's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Addison Smith, who scored 19 points along with four steals. Smith is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Avery Smith, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.

Providence has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season. As for Floyd Central, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-10.

Providence will square off against Austin at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Austin is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road. As for Floyd Central, they will face off against Silver Creek at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Silver Creek has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
