Recap: Heritage Hurricanes vs. Gloucester Dukes
The Heritage Hurricanes fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They took their game at home on Friday with ease, bagging a 47-19 victory over Gloucester. The result was nothing new for Heritage, who have now won three matchups by 21 points or more so far this season.
Heritage found their leader in underclassman Tyree Wilson, who rushed for 89 yards and three touchdowns on only six carries. Wilson was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 50 yards. Another player making a difference was Rayshawn Pierce-malone, who rushed for 110 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries.
Heritage's win bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Gloucester, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.
Heritage will head out on the road to face off against Kecoughtan at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Virginia (Kecoughtan is ranked 176th, while Heritage is ranked 159th). As for Gloucester, they will be playing at home against Woodside at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Woodside comes in on a streak of failing to score more than ten points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
