Soccer Recap: Lakeland Comes Up Short

Lakeland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were one goals away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Davenport Broncos. If the Dreadnaughts were looking for revenge after losing 8-0 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Their goal came courtesy of Dylan Hernandez, who's now up to three this season.

Lakeland's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7-2. As for Davenport, their victory bumped their record up to 3-6.

Lakeland wasted no time getting back out on the pitch and has already played their next match, a 2-0 loss against George Jenkins on the 16th. As for Davenport, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Winter Haven at 8:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
