The Wiggins Tigers will venture away from home to square off against the Yuma Outlaws at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. Wiggins is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
While Wiggins' win against Byers wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Tigers narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Bulldogs 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Tigers have posted since May 4, 2024.

Larry Garcia was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Wiggins is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-5 otherwise. Garcia was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Isaac Flores, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to triples, as he's now hit at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Marcus Steinbar was another key player, scoring a run and stealing three bases while getting on base in two of his five plate appearances.
Wiggins kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Yuma was not the first on the board last Tuesday, but they got there more often. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 victory over Wray. The Outlaws haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Lennox Huwa was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Jesus Rodriguez, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Wiggins' victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-6. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Yuma, their record now sits at 8-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Wiggins has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Yuma struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Wiggins was able to grind out a solid victory over Yuma when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 22-17. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
