Softball Game Preview: North Middlesex Regional Patriots vs. Shepherd Hill Regional Rams

North Middlesex Regional is 0-3 against Shepherd Hill Regional since April of 2024 but things could change on Wednesday. The Patriots will welcome the Rams at 4:30 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

North Middlesex Regional took a 12-run defeat the last time they faced off against Marlborough, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Patriots had just enough and edged out the Panthers 6-5 on Monday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Patriots.

Nataly Rebello spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up ten Ks.

At the plate, North Middlesex Regional let Olivia Peterson and Abby Demers run wild. Peterson went 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI, while Demers went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs Peterson has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Ava Moore, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.

Meanwhile, Shepherd Hill Regional posted their closest win since April 22, 2024 on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Fitchburg, sneaking past 5-4. The victory continues a trend for the Rams in their matchups with the Blue Raiders: they've now won four in a row.

Shepherd Hill Regional's win bumped their record up to 11-2. As for North Middlesex Regional, their victory bumped their record up to 2-11.

North Middlesex Regional might still be hurting after the 12-0 loss they got from Shepherd Hill Regional in their previous matchup back in April.
