Volleyball Recap: Brewer Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Brewer's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the Saginaw Rough Riders 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Bears have posted since September 9th.

Brewer was actually outscored in aggregate across those five sets (110-104), but they still managed to win. The match finished with set scores of 19-25, 16-25, 29-27, 25-22, 15-11.

Despite the loss, Saginaw still got an impressive performance from Kemper Rangel, who had 27 digs and two aces. With that strong performance, Rangel is now averaging an impressive 10.3 digs per game. Morgan Alexander also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

With the victory, Brewer broke their four-match losing streak and moved their record to 18-14. As for Saginaw, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-20 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Brewer will face off against rival Chisholm Trail at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Saginaw is set to square off against their familiar foe Azle at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
