Baseball Game Preview: Woodland Cougars vs. Oklahoma Bible Trojans

The Woodland Cougars will venture away from home to challenge the Oklahoma Bible Trojans at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Woodland is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Foyil 16-1 on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won six in a row.

Tryp Neff was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one RBI. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in stolen bases.

In other batting news, Patrick Freeman was a standout: he scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4. He is becoming a predictor of Woodland's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 2-1 (and 1-6 when he doesn't). Landon Presson also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Woodland kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Oklahoma Bible hadn't done well against Mooreland recently (they were 0-6 in their previous six matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Oklahoma Bible never let Mooreland get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Trojans' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Cal Cayot made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Cayot was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Koy Schneider was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Jacoby Justus, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Woodland picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 3-7. As for Oklahoma Bible, they moved to 3-4 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.
