Softball Recap: Reedsburg Beavers vs. Mount Horeb Vikings

Reedsburg had lost four straight at home, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 9-9 to make it five. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mount Horeb Vikings. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-7 back in April.

Cheyenne Raupp spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on seven hits.

At the plate, Reedsburg saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kylee Molitor, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

As for Mount Horeb, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 11-3. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.1 runs over those games.

On Mount Horeb's side, Ruby Dahlk and Lauren Mester did most of the damage at the plate: Dahlk went 3-for-4 with two RBI, while Mester went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base. That's the most hits Dahlk has posted since back in April.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Reedsburg will venture away from home to challenge Baraboo at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mount Horeb, they will square off against Stoughton at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mount Horeb is facing Stoughton at the right time seeing as Stoughton is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
