Softball Recap: Alexandria Victorious

Alexandria came out on top against Detroit Lakes on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run seventh inning. The Cardinals walked away with an 8-5 win over the Lakers. The Cardinals haven't had any issues with the Lakers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Addy Johnson made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.

In other batting news, Gretta Kelly was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Ava Klimek also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Alexandria's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Detroit Lakes, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Looking ahead, Alexandria will be playing in front of their home fans against Albany at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Detroit Lakes, they are taking a road trip to take on St. Cloud Cathedral at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
