Volleyball Recap: Pender Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Pender was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 3-0 to the East Duplin Panthers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in September.

While Pender ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 17 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-17, 25-20.

When it comes to explaining why Pender lost, don't look at Charleigh Rivenbark. Despite the final result, she had 13 digs, four aces, and two blocks. Rivenbark has been hot recently, having posted two or more aces the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jensen Bordeaux, who had 11 digs and two aces.

Leading East Duplin to victory were Karsyn Parker and Lauren Cottle. Parker had 16 digs, while Cottle had ten digs and nine assists. That's the most digs Parker has posted since back in September.

Pender's loss dropped their record down to 5-16. As for East Duplin, they pushed their record up to 19-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road.
