Basketball Game Preview: Farmington Phoenix vs. Bonneville Lakers

The Farmington Phoenix will challenge the Bonneville Lakers at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

While Farmington didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They enjoyed a cozy 47-33 win over Spanish Fork on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Phoenix.

Farmington can attribute much of their success to Olive Wayland, who posted 13 points along with eight boards and six steals, and Ellie Dorius, who put up 11 points and five steals. Those five steals gave Dorius a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Morgan Rogers, who earned five points and six rebounds.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Bonneville, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They took down Ogden 48-30 on Friday. The Lakers pushed the score to 43-19 by the end of the third, a deficit the Tigers cut but never quite recovered from.

The victory got Bonneville back to even at 3-3. As for Farmington, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.

Farmington beat Bonneville 56-48 in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. Will the Phoenix repeat their success, or do the Lakers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
