Softball Recap: Elida Extends Home Winning Streak to Seven

While Elida's win against Shawnee wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Bulldogs sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over the Indians on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Indians: they've now won three in a row.

Lilly Sifrit spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Ava Jackson was excellent, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

Elida pushed their record up to 12-7 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.4 runs over those games. As for Shawnee, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-12.

As of now, neither Elida nor the Indians have any future games scheduled.
