Baseball Game Preview: Ponder Lions vs. Boyd Yellowjackets

Ponder hasn't had much luck against Boyd recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Lions will venture away from home to square off against the Yellowjackets at 7:30 p.m. Boyd took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Ponder, who comes in off a win.

Ponder is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 13-0 margin over Gainesville on Saturday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Meanwhile, after soaring to ten runs the game before, Boyd was a bit more limited in their matchup on Saturday. They took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of Iowa Park.

The victory made it two in a row for Ponder and bumps their season record up to 6-12. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Boyd, their defeat ended an 11-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 21-3.

Ponder came up short against Boyd in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, falling 4-0. Can the Lions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
