Newton North's game on Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out the Central Golden Eagles 2-1. Those two runs were actually the fewest the Tigers have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Sam Congdon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up seven Ks.

Newton North's win bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-2.

Coming up, Newton North is taking a road trip to challenge Needham at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Central, they will face off against Agawam at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Brownies have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.7 runs per game on average), something the Golden Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of.
