Baseball Game Preview: Southington Blue Knights vs. Berlin Redcoats

The Southington Blue Knights will take on the Berlin Redcoats at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Southington's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past Plainville 7-0. Winning may never get old, but the Blue Knights sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Gabe Hinkson looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Mark Zigmont, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Zach Noyes was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Berlin won against Middletown on Monday with 11 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. Everything went the Redcoats' way against New Britain as they made off with an 11-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Redcoats in their matchups with the Golden Hurricanes: they've now won five in a row.

Berlin's win bumped their record up to 12-2. As for Southington, their victory bumped their record up to 14-5.
