Antioch is a perfect 10-0 against Round Lake since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Sequoits will welcome the Panthers at 4:45 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Thursday.
If Antioch beats Round Lake with eight runs on Thursday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Sequoits never let Marengo get on the board and left with an 8-0 win on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Sequoits, who have now won 14 contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Round Lake). They blew past North Chicago 16-1 on Tuesday. The Panthers have beaten the Warhawks the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Warhawks has come to flipping the script.
Brooke Conrad made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Round Lake got a massive performance out of Arianna Cabral, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three hits gave Cabral a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Piper Berry, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Round Lake was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .625. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive matchups.
Antioch's victory bumped their record up to 25-3. As for Round Lake, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-17-1.
Antioch got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in April against Round Lake by a conclusive 15-0 score. Will the Sequoits repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
