Soccer Game Preview: Dowling Catholic vs. Indianola

The Dowling Catholic Maroons will head out to challenge the Indianola Indians at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Dowling Catholic is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Iowa's top teams: Woodward-Granger, who was ranked 13th at the time (Dowling Catholic was ranked third). The Maroons came up short against the Hawks on Friday, falling 5-2. Dowling Catholic have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Indianola's offense. They fell just short of Woodward-Granger by a score of 1-0 on Thursday. That's two games in a row now that Indianola have lost by just one goal.

Indianola's defeat dropped their record down to 9-6-1. As for Dowling Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 6-4.

Everything went Dowling Catholic's way against Indianola in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Dowling Catholic made off with a 10-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Maroons since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
