Basketball Recap: Northeast Takes a Loss

Northeast was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They had to suffer through a 67-33 loss at the hands of the Springfield Yellow Jackets. The Eagles were down 57-29 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Despite the loss, Northeast still got an impressive performance from Qimara Summers, who went 9-for-19 on her way to 22 points along with six boards and three steals. That was a full 66.7% of Northeast's points, marking the fourth time in a row Summers has posted more than a third of the team's points.

Even though they lost, Northeast smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in three consecutive matchups.

Springfield found their leader in freshman Taleah Patterson, who went 9-for-17 to rack up 20 points and eight steals. Those eight steals set a new season-high mark for Patterson. Another player making a difference was Shemauria Pope, who went 6-for-12 en route to 14 points and six steals.

Northeast's record now sits at 3-24. As for Springfield, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-12.

Northeast does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Springfield, they will square off against Rossview at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Rossview will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Springfield surely won't give up without a fight.
