Volleyball Recap: Elba Comes Up Short

Elba was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 2-0 to the Grand Island Lutheran Lightning. Unfortunately, that's the fourth time they've come up short against the Lightning this season, with their most recent defeat being a 2-1 loss last Saturday.

Elba was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the second set very close. The final score came out to 25-18, 25-22.

Jarahlynn Morrow paced Elba's offense, picking up 12 kills. Morrow got some help from Lacey Barg and her 20 assists. Morrow was also a major player on defense: she and she shared the team lead in blocks, finishing with two each.

Elba's defeat dropped their record down to 12-15. As for Grand Island Lutheran, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season.

Elba will face off against Burwell at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Grand Island Lutheran, they will challenge Fullerton on Tuesday.
