Basketball Game Preview: St. Croix Falls Saints vs. Spooner Rails

The St. Croix Falls Saints will face off against the Spooner Rails at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. St. Croix Falls will be strutting in after a win while Spooner will be coming in after a defeat.

Last Tuesday, St. Croix Falls didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Ladysmith, but they still walked away with a 40-36 victory. The win was all the more spectacular given the Saints' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 354th, while the Lumberjacks are ranked 109th).

Meanwhile, Spooner was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were dealt an 81-47 defeat at the hands of Bloomer.

St. Croix Falls has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 4-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.0 points per game. As for Spooner, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.

St. Croix Falls came up short against Spooner when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 58-51. Can St. Croix Falls avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
