Recap: Carmel Christian Cougars vs. Cox Mill Chargers
The Carmel Christian Cougars pushed their score all the way to 65 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 77-65 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cox Mill. Carmel Christian's loss continues a unfortunate trend for the team, making it three in a row.
Carmel Christian's loss came despite strong showings from Kam Taylor and Bryce Slay. Taylor scored 21 points along with seven rebounds, while Slay scored 21 points along with six assists. The match was Taylor's 14th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chandler Kennedy, who scored ten points.
Carmel Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Cox Mill, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-4.
Carmel Christian's road trip will continue as they head out to face Carolina International at 4:30 p.m. on December 30th. Carolina International will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 201st, while Carmel Christian is ranked 99th). Cox Mill will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on West Cabarrus at 7:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
