Recap: Bethesda Christian Patriots vs. University Trailblazers
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Bethesda Christian Patriots ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They snuck past University with a 44-40 win. This was payback for Bethesda Christian, who suffered a 55-28 loss the last time these two teams met.
Bethesda Christian got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Sydney Goodin out in front who scored 16 points along with nine rebounds and two steals. Goodin hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenzie Fulks, who scored 13 points along with seven assists and two steals.
Several Trailblazers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Leah Norvell, who scored nine points along with 16 rebounds. Charlotte Conyers was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with six rebounds and five steals.
Bethesda Christian is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. As for University, their loss dropped their record down to 9-8.
Bethesda Christian will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Indianapolis Washington at 6:00 p.m. Indianapolis Washington will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 394th, while Bethesda Christian is ranked 140th). As for University, they will head out on the road to square off against Bethesda Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Bethesda Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Tuesday.
