Baseball Game Preview: Manassas Park Cougars vs. Brentsville District Tigers

Manassas Park hasn't had much luck against Brentsville District recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Manassas Park Cougars are taking a road trip to challenge the Brentsville District Tigers at 6:00 p.m. Manassas Park will be strutting in after a victory while Brentsville District will be coming in after a loss.

Manassas Park is headed out to face Brentsville District after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. Manassas Park was the clear victors by a 21-4 margin over Freedom on Wednesday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Cougars as it put an end to their three-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Minh Huynh made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and only one walk). Huynh was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base.

In other batting news, Manassas Park got a massive performance out of Joshua Witz, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. Fernando Sibrian Avalos was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Manassas Park always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .711. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Freedom only posted an OBP of .417.

Meanwhile, Brentsville District suffered their closest defeat since March 26, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Liberty Christian by a score of 4-2.

Manassas Park might still be hurting after the 13-0 loss they got from Brentsville District when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Manassas Park avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
