Basketball Game Preview: Columbine Rebels vs. Lakewood Tigers

The Columbine Rebels will head out to square off against the Lakewood Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Columbine is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.6 points per game this season.

On Monday, Columbine didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Golden, but they still walked away with a 58-52 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Rebels.

Cash Boykin continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 21 points and ten boards. He has been hot recently, having posted ten or more rebounds the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Burkhalter, who went 6 of 11 on his way to 15 points and six boards.

Meanwhile, Lakewood was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 15th straight loss dating back to last season. They were beaten by Ralston Valley 88-24. The Tigers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 45-15.

Columbine will have to keep a close watch on Quentin Wilson and Ben Kerchner, a pair of players who had a big impact on Lakewood's prior game. Wilson posted seven points, while Kerchner had five points.

Lakewood's defeat dropped their record down to 0-14. As for Columbine, they now have a winning record of 8-7.

Columbine came up short against Lakewood in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 91-81. Thankfully for Columbine, Brandon Bazan-Torres (who went 11 for 20 en route to 34 points and eight rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
