Football Game Preview: Trinity Shamrocks vs. Berks Catholic Saints

The Trinity Shamrocks will head out on the road to challenge the Berks Catholic Saints at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Trinity is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. Everything went their way against Annville-Cleona as they made off with a 42-21 win. The Shamrocks haven't had any issues with the Dutchmen recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Trinity's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brandon Harris, who rushed for 209 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 11.6 yards per carry. Those 209 rushing yards gave Harris a new career-high. Maddox Jarzynski was in the mix too, providing Trinity with four TDs.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Trinity was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 245 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Berks Catholic really took it to Bermudian Springs for the full four quarters, racking up a 37-6 victory. The Saints pushed the score to 24-0 by the end of the third, a deficit the Eagles had little chance of recovering from.

Trinity better keep an eye on Owen Schalk. He was instrumental in Berks Catholic's win, rushing for 86 yards and two scores on only eight carries.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Berks Catholic's defense and their eight sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Jack McKeone and Eric Bennethum, who racked up four sacks between them. Berks Catholic received some extra help from Jayden Wright, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

Trinity's record is now 9-3. As for Berks Catholic, their record now sits at 9-2.
