Basketball Game Preview: Union Academy Cardinals vs. Piedmont Panthers + How To Watch

The Union Academy Cardinals are taking a road trip to face off against the Piedmont Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Union Academy took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They blew past Anson 69-31. The Cardinals have beaten the Bearcats the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Bearcats has come to flipping the script.

While Piedmont didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They really took it to Parkwood for the full four quarters, racking up a 54-27 win. The Panthers pushed the score to 50-16 by the end of the third, a deficit the Wolf Pack cut but never quite recovered from.

Piedmont's win came from a few key players Union Academy will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Charleigh Battle, who shot 47% from the field en route to 15 points and seven steals. Those seven steals gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily Lundquist, who posted nine points and five steals.

Piedmont's victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Union Academy, their win bumped their record up to 2-3.

Everything came up roses for Union Academy against Piedmont in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, as the squad secured a 62-14 victory. In that game, the Cardinals amassed a halftime lead of 33-6, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
