Recap: Rock Port Blue Jays vs. King City Wildkats
The Rock Port Blue Jays came tearing into Thursday's contest with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.1 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 56-25 win over King City. With Rock Port ahead 33-11 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Rock Port's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bannack Skillen, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds. Skillen has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Corbyn Jakub, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Rock Port is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. As for King City, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-12.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rock Port on the road again on Tuesday and play against Worth County at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Worth County knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four contests -- so hopefully Rock Port likes a good challenge. King City will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on North Andrew at 7:30 p.m. on January 30th.
