Baseball Game Preview: Robertson Cardinals vs. West Las Vegas Dons

The Robertson Cardinals are taking a road trip to take on the West Las Vegas Dons at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Robertson will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Robertson can't be too worried about heading out to take on West Las Vegas: they just beat St. Michael's at home, who had been dominant on their own field up to that point. The Cardinals came out on top against the Horsemen by a score of 4-1 on Tuesday.

Diego Maez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Brian Lucero was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, West Las Vegas got the win against Tucumcari on Thursday by a conclusive 11-3. The Dons haven't had any issues with the Rattlers recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

West Las Vegas pushed their record up to 14-5 with the win, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Robertson, their win bumped their record up to 12-5-1.

Robertson skirted past West Las Vegas 4-3 when the teams last played last Tuesday. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cardinals since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
