It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Campbell County had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Sheridan Broncs with a sharp 16-4 win. Considering the Camels have won 24 games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Sadie Cole tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off only one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Campbell County got a massive performance out of Bayley Gray, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-4. Those two home runs gave Gray a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Courtney Thayer, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and two RBI.
Campbell County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .571. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in 11 consecutive matches.
Campbell County pushed their record up to 28-4 with the victory, which was their 12th straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.6 runs over those games. As for Sheridan, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6-1 record this season.
