Softball Recap: Fort Worth Country Day Gets the Win

Fort Worth Country Day proved they can win big last Friday (they won by seven) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the South Hills Scorpions 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Falcons have posted since March 28, 2024.

Madeline Richey was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ryleigh Hall, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Alexis Barriger was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Fort Worth Country Day now has a winning record of 6-5. As for South Hills, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-16-1.

Fort Worth Country Day does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for South Hills, they will square off against Trimble Tech at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
