Softball Recap: Downingtown West Victorious

Downingtown West won the last time they faced Coatesville and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Whippets came out on top in a nail-biter against the Red Raiders, sneaking past 2-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Whippets.

Addison Carter spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up 17 Ks. Those 17 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, Downingtown West saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Casey McWilliams, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI. Kiri Weidner also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Downingtown West's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Coatesville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-2.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Downingtown West will challenge rival Kennett at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Coatesville is set to take on their familiar foe Great Valley at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.
